De Democratische Republiek Congo, ook wel Congo-Kinshasa is een land in Afrika. De hoofdstad is Kinshasa. Vroeger heette het land Zaïre. De Democratische Republiek Congo grenst aan de Republiek Congo, de Centraal-Afrikaanse Republiek, Zuid-Soedan, Oeganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola en ook de exclave Cabinda van Angola. Het is een voormalige Belgische kolonie. Kongo betekent jager in het Kikongo, één van de oorspronkelijke talen die in het Zuidwesten van Congo wordt gesproken.
